Valentine’s Day has come and passed again and yes, it’s a day of love and happiness and everything positive. But out of 10 people, there might be two or three who hated the day because of a broken heart.

Fixing a broken heart is a depressing and challenging phrase that most people go through. There are just a few who are lucky and truly blessed that they are spared from having to know how to fix a broken heart. A broken heart usually can be caused by a death of a loved one but usually, a broken heart is caused by a relationship that needs to move on, a trust that was broken, a dream for two shattered and a love that disappeared.
Getting over heartbreak is not an easy thing.The first way in fixing this is to your emotions out. It would be best to reflect on your feelings. Bottling everything is no good at all so let it out. It is typical to go through a denial stage first and a phase where you try to ran away from everything but everything will still catch up on you. Don’t pretend that you’re OK. Don’t act as if you are not hurt and that you don’t care either. Deal with your emotions before it eats you up and if you tend to brush everything aside, be reminded that these emotions can sneak up on you in the future –in the worst time. Let everything out. Vent your anger. Cry your sadness. Allow yourself to heal. Forgive those who inflicted pain.
After acknowledging your emotions, start climbing the ladder of acceptance. In the case of relationship break ups, you have to face the fact and accept the reality that you have to move on alone and continue life without him or her. But moving on can’t be done in a snap nor can it happen overnight. It takes time.
Yes, acceptance is the hardest part to get past through but once this is over and done with, you can truly be on your way to recovery and in getting that heart of yours fixed up. So how do you start accepting reality? Start planning for yourself and for you alone. Start building yourself back up. Cliché it may be, but sometimes you really have to fall down hard before you can get back up.
Now, all throughout the process of mending, depression would always be there and it is perfectly acceptable. You have something to be unhappy about but also try to give room to happiness and to all the wonderful things that life has to offer and all those adventures you were missing out before. With that being said, slowly stray away from your comfort zone and get back to the social world. Focus your attention and time to something new. Something that you’ve always wanted to do. Divert your energy to worthwhile things so you don’t give depression the chance to swallow you whole.
The next thing to do is to develop a better mindset and perspective. Change for the better if you need to. Sometimes, to help fixing a broken heart, you need to grow up and adapt other roles in life. Assess your priorities and get new responsibilities. It will not only help you get pass through the emotional pain but it will overall improve your individuality.
Lastly, grab on to family and friends. Their presence and support can work wonders in the process of fixing a broken heart. Allow them to love, care, and support you. Again, fixing a broken heart is hard but everything in life has a reason and getting your heart broken and fixing it up should make you a better person and not a bitter one.
