The Best Places for a Spring Getaway

Ontario Canada

With spring just around the corner, it’s time to get those travel planners out and map out your travel itineraries because even if you are planning to go off the beaten path this time, its no excuse for late bookings and hurried plans that often backfires midway. Spring is a particularly good time to travel since it’s a respite from the cold winter months that keeps everyone indoors. So, here are the best places to consider for your spring getaway this year.

If you don’t mind a bit of the wintry season, then Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska is a great place to escape to. Spring is a great time to watch glaciers slide off the large mountains of ice and float on water as a spectacular display. The park is accessible by plane and boat only yet the way through provides breathtaking views as well. Apart from glaciers, there’s also an abundance of wildlife to observe. This part of Alaska is home to humpback whales and on land, bears and moose.

Ontario Canada

Ottawa, Ontario celebrates spring through the Canadian Tulip Festival. The rows of tulips on display in gardens are in a myriad of colors transforming gardens into a complete wonderland. Bordered by green grass, tulips are such a great view in contrast to the white landscape of the winter months. Ottawa also has plenty of historical sites and museums to visit; you should not miss the Parliament Hill and its majestic Peace Tower. Being located near the border of Ontario, day trips to Quebec and river cruises are also options to consider.

Rocky Monoliths

Although more crowded during summer, Yosemite National Park in California is also at its best during spring. The park covers more than seven hundred thousand acres of land and water, and has something in store for any type of traveler. For the sightseer, the Valley View is the best place to take in the sights, especially the Bridalveil Falls; while the Tunnel View is a great place to spend early evenings to watch the sunset. For the adventurist and intrepid bunch, camping and four-day hikes await.

These are just a few of the best places to visit and enjoy the spring season. If you want to avoid spring break revelers, parks and off the beaten paths are great options. Although not as busy as summer, spring can spike hotel rates and airfares so booking ahead can be wise.
